Role Description

The Staff Interpreter reports to the Directorof Interpreting Services, maintaining open communication and disclosure of theconditions, operations, and needs of the organization and self. In thisposition the staff interpreter will interpret in a variety of settings foriYellow Interpreting contracts while demonstrating iYellow Group Core valuesand adhering to the RID Code of Professional Conduct.

Responsibilities

  • Able to accurately interpret or translate English to ASL and ASL to English in a variety of settings, including but not limited to; government agencies,     educational settings, medical settings, commercial organizations, and VRI/remote assignments.
  • Support Deaf/hearing colleague(s) through a collaborative team interpreting approach.
  • Provide assignment-related feedback to the scheduling department which would benefit the next interpreter assigned at that location.
  • Obtain a security clearance.
  • Able to interpret onsite and remotely.
  • Maintain high place ability with consumers and have few to no DNS’s.
  • Complete necessary badging paperwork requested by iYellow Interpreting clients.
  • Participate in quarterly Scorecard Assessment.
  • Conduct oneself in a way that demonstrates the iYellow Group Core Values.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in accepting last-minute schedule changes.
  • Arrive or connect to all assignments (onsite or remote) no laterthan 15 minutes prior to the start time. This allows time to navigate any security procedures onsite, or ensure proper connection remotely, to be inplace and prepared to provide services at the start time of the assignment.
  • Exhibit professional and appropriate attire, and/or environmentconducive to remote interpreting, when applicable.
  • Participate as a rater on iYellow Interpreting’s screening team.
  • Maintain RID certification requirements.
  • Exhibit professional and ethical behavior atall times.
  • Adhere to the RID Code of ProfessionalConduct.
  • Adhere to The iYellow Group Handbook.
  • Provide outstanding customer service to all consumers.
  • Demonstrate exceptional performance standards by applying best practices which align with industry standards.
  • Executeother duties as requested by iYellow Group Executive Leadership.
  • Perform other related duties as assign.

Requirements

  •  Passing RID written test results, or RID certification.
  • Uncertified interpreters must obtain certification within 18 months of hire.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or four years of professional interpreting experience.
  • Native-Like Fluency in American Sign Language and English.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Obtain at a minimum secret level security clearance.
  • Function well in a high-paced and evolving environment.
  • Find ways over, around or through barriers to success.
